Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental health disorder characterized by unwanted and intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions). People with OCD may feel the need to perform these compulsions to try to relieve the anxiety caused by the obsessions.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is best described by excessive and debilitating worry about almost anything in daily life. This includes work, school, money, or health. When someone is diagnosed with GAD, it is likely that their worry is disproportional to the actual threat.

When a person has panic disorder, they have had panic attacks. Additionally, they live in fear of having another panic attack. Sometimes, you may have a feeling that a panic attack is coming. Other times, it's a total surprise.

Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder characterized by fear of leaving home alone, being stuck in crowded areas, or of not being able to escape and/or get help if needed. People with agoraphobia fear being in places or situations where they may experience a panic attack.

Social anxiety disorder is defined by an intense fear of one or more social situations and/or situations where someone would have to perform or be evaluated. Individuals with social anxiety disorder experience severe anxiety before or within these types of situations and fear.

Illness anxiety, often referred to as health anxiety or hypochondria, is the chronic fear of having a serious medical condition. Those suffering from health anxiety in Tampa Bay usually pay excessive attention to their health and are easily triggered by physical sensations that may be normal.

Specific phobias are irritational and often exaggerated fears of a specific trigger. These fears may not affect affect your daily life overall but may cause you significant distress when in the presence of the trigger.
